Sigh....

You know....when I first joined this site, I was addicted beyond measure. Now I have to make myself visit. The snipe level is way up and the nice level way down.

Maybe I'll check out sugarbuzz.com and see if they have as much drama and nastiness as we have here.

One more vote in the "give it all up" column whenever I wonder if I want to keep up with this business.

Flame on!

That's not a grandma finger, that's a cake decorating light saber icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Come on ladies, nobody was being called names...although I did have to go back and read to figure out how cake whores came up.

And didn't you see Pretty Woman? They get to pick too!!!!!!!!!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

And while we're on the topic of funny, it's funny that CC doesn't censor bitches and whores while they do censor certain other words...someone posted a picture of a cat and described it as a pussycat and it got censored...with all the bickering going on around here, we're much more likely to call each other bitches and whores than we are to use that other word icon_biggrin.gif

I think I need to lay off the caffeine for the day, I'm getting too silly icon_lol.gif

Just like every other forum out there on the web, it usually takes one to make a snide comment and get things out of whack. Let's not "feed the troll" and move along.

Breathe in. Breathe out.

It's called "reading comprehension", and my 2nd grader is learning that. Because someone mentioned cake w's and cake b's, doesn't mean they were calling someone that. There was another thread on yesterday saying basically that before we respond all emotionally and angrily, reread what you are responding to. It may not be what you think it is...

OK...SO...*clearing throat* icon_redface.gif Today when I was reading the thread, I was a bit distracted because I was at the mall Christmas shopping with the kids. While they were playing at the playground, I was reading the thread on my little phone. All I really saw was the quote about the bitches and whore that stuck out to me.
Being on the phone, I did not read every post, just quickly scanned. I saw post after post directed towards a new member, so I assumed it was directed towards her. So I apologize for getting so quickly frustrated with the whole thing and assuming that was directed towards one particular person. (The reason I thought that was because of a thread K8 started where another member got involved and it got nasty quickly so, I thought that was the B being referred to.) icon_redface.gif
Anyway, I did apologize to Debi in PM for losing my temper and now to you guys for assuming the worst and not reading clearly. (I don't apologize for defending my reading level, though icon_lol.gif.)
Thx. Have a good Thanks Giving.

wow is right. I'm sorry I started this with that vent! Seriously, I can totally see all sides of the argument... well at least the ones about the post. Not about the Bs and Whs. Not sure where that was read into it.
Although I can choose to "take it" because they are paying me, I do not choose to do business in that way. I do NOT have to bend over and take it like the people at Walmart or another chain store.
This WAS my fault, I 100% agree with it. I was just annoyed that I should have to clarify "don't bring little kids to a business meeting!" But believe me, clarify I will, and ask how many people are showing up I will as well (they are only allowed 4 ppl total).

The dog thing- I can see how this could be a major turn off for potential customers. But seriously, he's like 11 pounds, never barks, and rings a bell at the door to do his business. He sleeps through all my tasting appointments and doesn't bother the clients. Now, if he were a 75 lb lab puppy with a nose as high as the table, I would have him chained outside or in the garage.... I always ask if it is okay that he is in the room with them, and most of the time they would have him sit on their laps if I let them, which I don't.
THANKS so much for the compliments on the website and the cakes. My web designer is super talented, although I do need to update the site a little!
I think the holiday stress is getting to everyone! Can't wait til Black Friday!!!

Your right you shouldn't take it. Like already stated, just because they are paying you doesn't mean diddly. I would have said something as well even if that means losing clients. If they are that disrespectful, do you really want to work with them anyway........

EVERYONE SHOULD BE TREATED WITH RESPECT, EVEN SUPERMARKET EMPLOYEES.

Hopefully you will not have to go through that again, but sad to say dealing with the public is hell.

Seriously...............phewy...............Happy Thanksgiving Everyone.............and may I say business is business no matter where you are conducting it.....and some people do NOT care how OBNOXIOUS there kids are.....I mean seriously I had to get up and move last night at Twilight because this kid kept putting her feet on the back of my seat and I asked her to stop and the mother (a teacher I might add) said nothing to the brat.,,so I just moved before I throttled the mother !!!! SO I understand that....but if you want to be in business lay some rules out and make peeps abide!

Good, now that's all settled. To the OP. You have the right to run your business however you choose. You have the right to get torqued about whatever you want, but what you should think about is this. To you, it is a big important meeting with a contract...it's how you earn your living. To them, it's choosing a cake, which should be fun, and very well may be something they wish to share with their kids.

People bring kids to the darndest places these days, and a cake tasting appointment isn't anywhere near the top of my list of dumb places to bring your kid....gynocolgist's office anyone??

Learn from the experience and put a little note on your appointment reminder that your house isn't really a kid friendly environment. Most people will respect that. Some won't. Then decide whether it's worth losing the business. It's your choice.

It's okay, summernoelle. It happens to the best of us. I've had to send a couple of mia culpas myself. I swear, some days I just feel a little snarky and say things more harshly than I mean to. Glad you are feeling better summernoelle! thumbs_up.gif I can't tell you how many posts I've typed and then deleted before I hit submit. I'm not very good at apologies so I would have probably just slunk away never to be heard from again.

When they book a consultation I ALWAYS say:

- be on time
- I can only accomodate two adults
- if they are parents then they need to organize a sitter
