Hello! Can I mix a package (or maybe half a package) of strawberry JELLO into my white cake mix to make a strawberry cake? Has anyone tried it? I'm not interested in doing the poke hole method because I'm going to make cupcakes. Thanks!

I do this all the time, it does work well. I replace the water with milk and get rave reviews! thumbs_up.gif

I have wondered about this too, did you use a half or whole pack of jello?

I just tried that last week and it seemed to work fine. I just dissolved the Jello in some of the water first and then poured it into the batter & mixed. The cake seemed a little moister than usual, but other than that, I didn't notice any difference.

I also tried mixing Jello in just one cup of batter for a swirl effect and it looked really cool.

Do you use the whole box of JELLO or just half? And you put it right into the cake mix before baking right, and it turns out okay?

I use a half of a pack in my orange cake and I replace the water with o.j. and it always turns out good and really moist.
Use a half or whole pack depending on how much flavor you want.

I use strawberry and lemon jello all the time in my strawberry and lemon cakes, and like Tiffany29 said, it just depends on how strong you want the flavor, and yes, I just sprinkle mine in the mixing bowl and mix it up.......tastes great!!!!!!!

I'm glad to know you can mix it right in the batter. I was worried it wouldn't dissolve and would stay grainy, but apparently not. Thanks!

The recipe that I use for strawberry cake includes a pack of strawberry jello and frozen strawberries-- it's yummy!

...........Y'all are kidding, right?............

What makes you think it is all a joke?
It is a great addition to make super moist, fruit tasting cakes.

I tried using the strawberry Jello to flavor a white cake mix , and while it worked the resulting cake was much too sweet for my taste.

I do however, use it occasionally to make/flavor a simple syrup. (Think Jello poke cakes for the kids.)

I find that adding strawberry extract to scratch, cake mix or doctored cake mix recipes work bests for me. Added flavor punch but no extra sweetness.

I tried strawberry in a white mix, like Jan I really didn't care for the flavor. It was really sweet. But everyone's taste is different!

I use orange all the time and it's really good.

My thinking is that maybe Mensch is vegetarian and jello isn't vegan? Just guessing.

I put a small package in a recipe once and it tasted good, but was sort of rubbery.
I think half a package would be better.

I don't see what the problem with using it would be. It's just flavoring, coloring and gelatin.

I miss chutzpah saying 'gelatin is meat every time the subject comes up. icon_sad.gif
