I went to a shop recently that had a different brand of meringue powder that I am interested in. I think it was Americolors, but I am not sure. It seemed to be a pretty good value compared to wilton, with more bang for the buck. Has anyone else ever tried a different brand of meringue powder? I am curious if you have and noticed any difference.

I use CKs and there is really no difference as far as i can tell, except of course the price

I have also used just whites, but that does clump up on me if i don't mix it up first.

The only thing I have found with using meringue powders from bakeries and bulk stores, is that it doesn't keep as long and tends to clump up and be affected by moisture. I cannot get the CK brand or brands other than Wilton here, but I have bought containers from The Bulk Store and the local bakery and prefer the Wlton as it stays consistent and keeps for a long time.

Glad I looked at this post. I have been wanting to by CK powder but was afraid to since the container is so big. I did not think I could go through it fast enough.

I live in a very humid state so I think I will hold off on this. It is not like I have a cake business to use this stuff up. I just make cakes for friends and family as gifts.

I ordered some from kitchenkrafts.com and it worked perfectly. I'm not sure the brand since they just shipped it in little baggies. I transferred it to an airtight container.

I haven't tried the CK brand, but I have heard it is good. I tend to buy the Wilton's only because it stays fresher than the ones I can get here, but I would think the CK one would hold up well too, depending on the container it comes in. CK usually makes good products.
But yes you are correct, the humidity can really mess with some of the brands.
