I think its a 103 tip, the 104 is too big

its a rose tip

( I think , I could be wrong)

Yes, you'd use a rose petal tip and stripe the bag.

i may be totally missing the obvious, but how do you get the red only on the outside? someone said "stripe the bag", but the picture that comes to my mind is like... putting two colors side by side. i don't see how that would work. could someone please enlighten me? icon_biggrin.gif

oh wait, i just looked again. they are like "u" or "n" shaped, right? i was thinking it was just a straight line. is that right?

You just get a parchment bag and take a little decorator paintbrush. Then dip it into your gel colors. Then you just draw a straight line with the gel colors on the inside of the (empty) parchment bag. Just start at the bottom and paint up to top of the bag. Then fill it with frosting. You could stripe the bag several times, or just do it once. It's up to you.

It's in the Wilton Course 1 book if you want to check it out. It's for Lesson 3, although it talks about the striping in lesson 1. I'm teaching the clown lesson tonight, so it's fresh on the brain. =o)

Hope this makes sense. If not, let me know.

I don't think it's a petal tip... It has a vein in the middle. So I'm thinking it's something like tip 67, the veined leaf tip. That's my $0.02!

I think it is a petal tip, going up and down to give the affect showing. The end is not cut like a leaf tip would be. Start at the bottom, moving the tip up and down till you reached the desired apex, the a quick half circle swipe and back down the other side to match. It would be the only way to get the outside color all around and the end so clean..Just my.02..lol

But don't most leaf tips leave a small opening at the end, or come to a point? It does look like a leaf tip to me also, except at the end of the petal?

I say 103 used the same way it would be used to make a violet leaf.
