I've done camo, but with Viva. I start in the center of the top of the cake, and I make the random shapes go over the edges of the cake. It's still easy to smooth, but you don't need the border because the shapes continue from the top to the sides.

Thanks for posting the tutorial! I've had people ask how I did the camo, but I never felt like I could adequately explain it! Great photos!

ETA: I also make the inside of the cake camo by coloring the cake batter!

That's a great idea! How do you do that? Do you drop blobs of colored batter into the pan? It looks really cool!

Yep, pretty much! It's just like making a marble cake, only you don't marble it. I just plop spoonfuls of colored batter in the pan, trying to keep the colors separate.
