I am wanting to start a website. Right now I have a website at blogspot.com. But I want just a straight website with pictures and info, not a blog setup.
What website hosting do you use? Do you use a local business or online? I've heard of go-daddy but I didn't know how user friendly they were.
Thanks for your help!
GoDaddy is great. Pricing is great, you get your own domain name for free (at least the first year) and the Website Tonight templates are easy to use. They also have a help line.
I'm in the process of setting mine up, and use Godaddy.com, and the Website Tonight templates.
I found a web designer, and regret it a little.
I say if you can do it yourself, then do it. Its so annoying to have to pay every time you want to make a change. Unfortunately we're also relate, so its not like I can fire her or anything.
I hear GoDaddy is good, but I know Vista Print also offers web hosting for really cheap.
Wordpress is also flexible, it doesn't have to look like a blog. I use Tiger Tech to get my domain and the monthly payments are affordable.
Photium is an excellent host. I can not recommend them enough. My photography website is hosted by them, and for a reasonable monthly subscription you get a very easy package, and your own web address (you can also buy your domain elsewhere and transfer it free).
Building the site itself is also quite simple. It is primarily a photography hosting site, but I don't see any reason why you can't use it for a cake site, it's easily customizable.
These info are so helpful cos I'm in the process myself but can anyone please analyse the payment structures.

im using free web, i think its just www.webs.com now, free, easy, clear, you can do good things with it i think, altough mine is pretty simple looking!
xx
I created my logo, gave it to a graphic designer and he created my website using some pictures of my cakes. It is a basic website and I have full admin control so I can upload, make changes etc. It costs me just $200.00 per year to have him host it and maintain it if something goes wrong. I purchase and own my own domain names which only cost $40.00 for two years. It depends on how much info or how many frills you want on your site.
May be try and find a graphic designer who is only learning who is keen to add their flare and creativity to something at a half the price of a qualitified one.
Good luck
