Hello All, I am new to cake decorating and was wondering where is the least expensive place to get the "true" square cake pans and which brand is the best.

Where to buy them kind of depends on where you live. If there is a cake or restaurant supply store near you, you might find them locally; in the L.A. area I can think of at least three places to purchase ML pans...probably way more places than that. Sounds like you won't have time to order them online without paying for expedited shipping, but if you do there are of course zillions of places to find them including Amazon.com and of course GSA.
I agree w/Mensch, I really don't find them all that expensive. My husband once tried (poor guy) to buy me some fancy cake pans from Williams-Sonoma that were at least twice the price of ML pans. I took them back and used the $ to buy a new set of ML's (and then some) 
I bought my first ML's a couple of months ago and I love them! you definitely get what you pay for.

Does anyone have the Fat Daddio pans? What is the difference between them and the Magic Line?

That is funny.... But good news, I found them at the one and only restaurant supply place in town. Thanks for the suggestion, I wasn't thinking restaurant but only bakery supplies.
The pricing on the magic line pans isn't bad at all! I've been thinking of buying some new ones myself and was wondering what to get. Do you get even baking (no dome) with the magic line pans or do you still need the strips?
I use Magic Line and always get even baking with mine WITHOUT the strips--absolutely no dome--they're awesome!! I can't say enough good things about these pans!!
Magic line is located in Gardenia, CA. I have been there you can go crazy!!! The fat daddios are very nice and are covered for at least couple of years.
