I want to play around with NFSC, but have never altered a baking recipe before - I'm a little tentative. I'm eyeing some orange extract and wondering how it would taste with that, some cinnamon and nutmeg.

What's your favorite variation or flavoring to NFSC?

I have several that I use. The first one is adding maple flavor.
I use mapeline. It gives the cookie a subtle flavor. You can't quite put your finger on exactly what that taste is. I have never had anyone guess what flavor I use and everyone really loves it. Most of the time I use one tsp mapeline and one vanilla.
The other one that is my favorite is from Watkins and it is called vanilla nut. I have had tons of compliments on both.
I just use two teaspoons in my batch of NFSC instead of vanilla.
I've just never had time to test out other flavors. There are some threads out there on different flavor variations. If I find it I'll post it for you.

Wal Mart - you can also Google it, it's made by McCormick
Should be on the shelf with all the other flavorings like vanilla

I've been playing a lot my cookie recipe! (it's not NFSC)
Banana (real bananas+real extract)
Maple (real extract)
Pecan-maple
Chocolate
Orange
will try lemon this afternoon
will try hazelnut-chocolat this afternoon

And of course vanilla! (real extract)

Mapeline is my secret addiction. Tried some in a batch of NFSC decorated with MMF...they were a hit and scarfed in very short order!! icon_biggrin.gif Just picked up a bottle at WM, and I've found it at some of the local groc. stores as well.

I can't wait to try Maple!

Anyone ever try using the syrups from Torani? I use them for my lattes, but have never tried adding them to icing, cookie or cake. I wonder how they'd hold up?

I'm using Maple from Spices etc. I also tried Maple from boyadjian and they are very similar. Both are natural extract.

I just used Creme Bouquet in my NFSC for the first time and LOVED the flavor change. Now I'd liek to try maple as well.

I always do CB as well, so excited to try some of these ideas, maple sounds delicious and the fact I can pick it up at the grocery store and not have to order special is a bonus!

How much CB do you use for a batch of NFSC. I has a little too much lemon flavoring for me. Do you use one tsp vanilla and one tsp CB or do you use two tsp CB?
Can't remember if I have tried using one tsp of each or not.

I just used 1 tsp CB and it was perfect not too strong - start with 1/2 tsp and taste the dough to see if you want to add more. I also used a drop in Antonia74's RI and it added just a hint to enhance the flavor nicely.

I use the torani syrups in my different variations of WASC, come out great.I don't know how they would be in cookies as only 1-2 teaspoons may not do much

crushed candy canes and peppermint extract... really good.

editted to add that I don't use the NFSC dough, but I assume it would work just as well.

I just wanted to add that I topped the NFSC with pumpkin pie spice with MMF... it was really good!!!! I also added some almond to a batch and tried the Princess emulsion in another... they were really good. But the pie spice is definately my favorite now!

You guys are killing me! Pumpkin Pie spice is the most wonderful idea, I can just imagine how delicious that is in a NFSC and I still have months to go before I'm home to bake icon_cry.gif ! So happy to add this to my insanely long list of things I HAVE to try thumbs_up.gif
