One of my co-worker's daughter is getting married in December and they want 250 red velvet cupcakes with cream chese frosting.

I have no idea what to charge. they don't want any special designs just the red velvet cupcake w/ cream cheese frosting.

Can you guys give me some ideas for a price range?

Thanks,
Rhonda

My price is the same for wedding or a regular party, makes no difference. Cupcakes in my area, for a simple cupcake with frosting, not filled, fetch $2.50. Displays, towers, flowers etc are all extra. HTH

I'd say $3. Those things are a beast to transport and set up. Not to mention they take lots of time to bake and decorate.

But I guess, since it's a friend, if you wanted to give her a discount - you could.

So are you saying $3 per cupcake?

So, you would charge $750 for 250 cupcakes?

I only charge $.75/cupcake..but would probably charge $1.00/cupcake since cream cheese icing is more expensive for me to make
I also charge $25.00 set up fee to arrange the cupcakes on the tower
plus a rental and deposit on my tower.

so for me, I'd charge $250.00 for the cupcakes+$25.00 setup+$50.00 deposit and $25.00 rental for a total of $350.00 w/ $50.00 being returned with the tower.

Wow prices add up fast! I though $2.00 per cupcake was reasonable... when u are doing 250 of them that is a LOT of Work! More work than a cake thats for sure! hard to price when its a friend.. but you need to decide weather you are doing it at friend price or a clients price and then go from there.. Its still a lot of time and ingredients for you.. icon_smile.gif Good luck

I get $2.75 for a cupcake with a simple swirl. Goes up if you want more deco. Plus delivery and plus the stand rental.

My cupcake pricing is at $5.50 per but it includes the top cutting cake use of a stand and setup. Delivery is extra. Why would you charge less than a wedding cake its more work to do 250 cupcakes and around here some places charge a cutting fee of $7 per person if they have a wedding cake. My wedding cake pricing starts at $5.50 per serving.

Wow, i didn't know that you could get such a price!

I charged $1 per cupcake and $20 rental on my stand. But i'm starting (and growing) my business. So, word of mouth works well, and i will eventually bring it up, but it got me the order for the grooms cake too, AND she knows lots of young girls planning weddings and such. i felt like i did ok.

prices differ so much from area to area, it's hard to state a price.

We charge $3 per slice for cake and $3.50 per cupcake. Here's your justification:
1. Each cupcake is more than a slice of cake
2. Each cupcake is getting a lot of frosting compared to a frosted cake.
3. You're putting in more time to make each one.

a bit OT, but I am surprised about the cupcakes being harder. I simple swirl CC is MUCH easier and quicker for me. Not counting decorations, which I don't seem to get a lot of orders for.

still is a lot more work to decorate 250 individual cupcakes vs a say 4 tier cake-plus storage/transportation, setup (do you have a stand big enough or do you have to make one?) so far i've only done small orders but i start with my per slice cost-it only makes sense-why would you charge less for cupcakes-unless you're doing those mini ones with a small cake topper? good luck with that
