Attach Ribbon To Fondant Using Corn Syrup?

Has anyone ever done this? I have a cake coming up and the bride wants several VERY thin 1/8" ribbons on all tiers. The cake must be kept chilled before the reception, so I am worried about the fondant constricting and the ribbon going slack after applied, as I had a small disaster once with another thin ribbon.

If I tack it with RI in the back, I have the same "slacking" issue. The ribbon is so thin, I can't use RI in other places to tack it. I don't want to go with anything non-edible, just in case. . . so I'm stumped. detective.gif

I read on another site that a decorator used 2 parts corn syrup to 1 part water to apply decorations to a fondant cake. Anyone ever tested this or heard of it? I would love any help on this. Thanks!!!!
