You can find the sliced almonds at Walmart and even seen them at the Dollar store.

I attempted to do this as a "trial/experimental" option with two fingers with the tri-colored candy corn while baking - they melted all over - DO NOT try it.

How about the white airheads taffy candy? Roll it out as thin as you want and cut the pieces the way you want or need. Its very inexpensive and very tasty.
