Iced 4 dozen groom cookies saturday with brown went it get them to finish and they dryed all splotchie any ideas of why? Getting reagy to redo so please any help????

I had this same problem with some halloween cookies. I assumed it was due to the texture of my icing. I got a little heavy handed with the water and my icing turned out thinner than usual.
