I just started base icing a four tier. Already delivered two four tier wedding cakes today and had two pickups.

Running on nearly no sleep . . .

Wow. Busy day for you. Makes me feel guilty for sitting on the couch watching the Yankees win. Again.

Easy week this week, just baked up several tasting cakes for a tasting for tomorrow, got those iced and have to slice them tomorrow. Experimented with another cake, a graham cake...filled and iced that now have to find people who will eat it. haha.

Next week will be busy though.

Go Yanks! LOL!

Finished my weekends work a little while ago...beer bucket cake for a bachelor party. Then we have g'ma holdin the fort while we get to runaway for the weekend! Whoohooo! Then it's back to make a spider cake due Wednesday.

I was hoping to get a shower cake but the organizer has totally flaked. Makes me sad cause I really love the design I drew up and really wanted to do the cake. Oh well, I'll keep the design and hopefully get to make it someday! SIGH.

Have a great weekend!

Well, it's been about a year since I've posted. And about that long since I've decorated a real cake. icon_cry.gif

I started working as a Legal Secretary again and I'm lucky that I still have brain cells left when I get home. So, all I've done is just small, family types cakes.

I'm still teaching cake decorating twice a week and still enjoy it immensely.

I come by every now and then to admire everyone's work and one of these days I may decorate again. thumbs_up.gif

I had 4 cake pickups today, and 3 of my brides came in to talk about their wedding. I have just one wedding cake this weekend. And it's on Sunday, so I'm not even pulling the cakes out of the freezer until tomorrow!

I've got nothing this weekend...thank Goodness!

I got an invitation in the mail yesterday to what I thought was to be a housewarming party for my daughter and her husband (got married last month) given by his grandmother. Lo and behold! It's to be a reception/housewarming!!!! Last week, when DD mentioned the housewarming, she said, "____ asked if you wanted to make a wedding cake." I reply, "Why the heck would I make a wedding cake for a house warming??? I'll make a cake....but a wedding cake? what's the point?" Now, I know what the point was/is....and thanks for clueing me in!

So, I'll be making decorations for a wedding cake for my daughter as well as the other orders for NEXT weekend.

I don't know if ya'll remember me mentioning the lack of notice on DD's marriage....I was told the night before that they were getting married.

(Oh, yeah...the grandmother...yeah, well she is THE CAKE LADY around here...see...I ain't from 'round here ...if you weren't born here, you're an outsider...they can tell you from a mile away....OOF!

all4 - it's the "way" in the South. Who your granddaddy was is still, umm, relevant. Well, to some people.

uh huh....They call me a yankee, actually. I tell 'em, "I'm more southern than you! I'm from further south..." I swear! I must get my emotions in check! They're just all over the place this week!

I'm here too - and finished for the weekend! Had 3 party cakes for today and one for tomorrow - and that's it! So an easy weekend for me (& the next 2 weeks too icon_smile.gif!! Hopefully anyway!!

Kitchen is clean, dishwasher is loaded, icing is all put away - and I'm heading to bed 'early' for a change on a Friday night!

My biggest accomplishment this week was gaining a 'guest' bedroom in my home. Since DD married 2 weeks ago - I jumped in her room, organized what items were left, packed them out of the room for pickup and/or delivery - cleaned the room from top to bottom, rearranged it, threw in some new (to me) bedding, curtains and wall decorations -- AND THEN -- I also claimed the closet as my new 'Cake Supply Closet'. I have all of my supplies organized, sorted and neatly arranged in there - with the exception of my baking pans and I'm thinking I can add one more shelf to the middle of the wall and have room for them too!! That has been my happy dance this week!! Woot Woot!!

Ya'll have a great weekend - see you next week!

Suze

Last weekend was four nights in a row, 3 hours of sleep each night. It was hard. I can see the end for tonigh though. I've got the four tier based iced and am going to start making freeform fondant branches for the sides, then cut some paper flowers with the Cricut.

I just got home for the night and I am actually going to bed w/o any cakes on the brain! I delivered an eight tier wedding cake and carved groom's cake this evening. I stressed me to have such a large wedding on a Friday, but now I actually get to relax on a Friday!

Relaxation won't last long. 72 boxed lunches on Monday, cookie bouquet on Tuesday and a LARGE baby cake on Saturday. I promised hubby I would take next week easy, guess I need to work on that! I'm so afraid that if I turn someone down, they won't ever come to me again.

Goodnight all, I'll catch you next Friday for late night decorating.

I could use your help. I'm making modeling chocolate for a cake decorating class I'm taking tomorrow. The oil keeps separating from the chocolate. What am I doing wrong?

I'm using the Wilton candy melts.

I melt 14 oz of chocolate
add 1/3 cup of light corn syrup
Blend and then spread out on parchment lined cookie sheet

I just peeked on the chocolate and the syrup is separating.

Help! =)

Thank you!

Just saying hi on my dinner break.
I have a ton of cakes going out tomorrow. I lost both of my helpers and it is killing me! I also learned today that I cannot freeze pumpkin puree. I have 2 pumpkin breads going out tomorrow as well. I had to rebake because the ones I made with the frozen puree were so NOT attractive!

tator, I haven't been very successful cutting fondant with the Cricut. I've cut really thin (thinnest setting on the pasta roller) gum paste that was pretty dry. BUT - I also haven't bought the blue housing for the cutter. I think that may be the problem. Although wafer paper produces some cool stuff!

Can someone help Rachie with the choco clay? I haven't made any since culinary school.
