Haunted House Cake

I want to make a tiered cake with a huanted house on the top but I have no idea how to go about doing this? For those of you who have what did you use? Gingerbread? Board? Rice crispies? HELP!!

I personally would make it out of cookies. Chocolate sugar cookies or gingerbread.
