Advice For Beit Hamikdash Or Temple In Jerusalem Cake
Decorating By rosamatsas Updated 14 Apr 2013 , 2:40am by agbh
Hello everyone, I'm hoping for some advise and ideas.
I have been commissioned to make a cake resembling the Beit HaMikdash, also known as the The Temple in Jerusalem or Holy Temple. The cake should be large enough for at least 100 people.
Just a note: I'm not charging for it, so keeping the cost down would be beneficial.
Any ideas for the cake would be appreciated. Anyone who had pictures, if you could share with me that would be great.
Also any tip on how to decorate the buildings...
Thanks in advance ..
-Rosa

Sorry, I couldn't find any cake photos and I don't have any baking tips, but I'm sure someone else will. It looks like a fun, but complicated project. Have fun and good luck!
thanks for the links letsgetcaking. I also couldn't find anyone who had already made the temple cake form - am i the pioneer! LOL
Also - i don't nkow if it makes a difference, but they want me to make the first temple ( i think they said its also known as solomons temple) as opposed to the herod temple. I'll have to research that since i didn't know there was a difference.
Thanks again!
I'm not sure if the the model kit is for the 1st or 2nd temple, but the google image clearly states on top that it is the second.
The actual cake will probably only be the sheet cake base and possibly the kodesh kedoshim (tall enclosed structure). The rest will have to be gumpaste. Maybe RK keilim.
If you could afford to get the kit, or possibly borrow it from someone- that would make your life MUCH easier.
Good luck!
Wow, that's going to be a challenge! I don't know how to keep the cost down, looks like you are going to need a lot of fondant and GP, i'll also consider the use of styrofoam when posible. Good luck and don't forget to post a pic, can't wait to see it
ADid u end up making this cake. I need to make a cake in the shape of the Beis hamikdash and I would love to see a picture or template or advice. Thanks
