a good friend of mine is having a birthday on the 24th and she loves the store forever 21..so i would like to make a cake in the shape of their bags, but i don't know how to go about it..they are plastic bright yellow bags with drawstring top and forever 21 in black across thebottom..any ideas for me would be so much appreciated!!

What about just carving the general shape from stacked cake and then instead of covering with fondant from the top down, maybe you could gather the fondant at the top so it looks like a drawstring bag

hey there. Do you want to do the bag with a drawstring or handles? I've seen in with handles as well.
My other question to you would be do you want to use fondant or buttercream to cover the cake.?

The way i would approach it is:
1) stack up some cakes. i would use oval, squares r rectangle. use supports if the cake is larger than 4 layers. (dowles and cakeboard every 3 layers is my method)
2) carve out some tapering towards the top.(draw string)
3) roll out enough fondant or make enough buttercream to cover the cake.
4) for fondant: partiallygather up the fondant at one end and drape the other over the cake keeping the gathered part at the top for the drawstring top

hope this helps

Here's a picture of the tote bag..........the other bags are just plastic with a drawstring, but I couldn't find a decent pic........

Hope that helps!
