A friend's little boy just broke his arm (very bad break and will be in the hospital a couple of days). Another friend is organizing a week's worth of meals for the family so the parents have one less thing to worry about, and I want to make the boy a "Get Well" cake on my day.

I'm having trouble coming up with a theme, though. The boy is loves sports, but I don't want to make a sports-themed cake since he won't be playing for a while. Any other ideas? What's big with the 2nd grade crowd nowadays?

I don't want to bother the mom since the boy will be in surgery today.

Does the little boy like Lego? That's a very hot toy with many boys that age. There's lots of great examples in the galleries.

Saw this other day and had to save it! Kinda makes light of the fact that there was a serious injury, but all will be better soon! Just turn it into his arm instead of a leg, and try to find out some of his classmates names, and use those as signatures on the cast!

I have a first grader and right now the stuff the boys are into seem to be centered around some big movies that have come out this year. Transformers and GI Joe top the list and Star Wars is a close third since the new season of Clone Wars is out Friday night.

Spiderman, Batman and any other super hero works.
