Beach Cake - How To Get Sand To Stick

Hi,
How doe you get sand (ground up sugar cookies and brown sugar) to stick to the fondant cake and board on a beach themed cake?
Thanks
Spread a thin layer of piping gel over the fondant and board. My fav "sand" is Sugar In the Raw (turbinado sugar).
You could even just use a little water to dampen the fondant and put the crumbs on. Don't soak the fondant though! Just use a damp brush to lightly brush the top of the fondant.
I use graham cracker crumbs mixed with sugar for sand and use a little piping gel to hold it.
Where can you find piping gel? I do not remember seeing it in the cake decorating aisle, of course I was not directly looking for it. Thanks

I vote for corn syrup water down a wee bit. I brushed this in that solution, and rolled it in a cookie pan filled with pulverized graham crackers and brown sugar. Piping gel tastes gross to me, but that's just my tastebuds.
To make beach sand I like to use graham cracker crumbs, a little sugar, & if I want the "wet sand" look, I add melted butter which also helps stick to the cake/cake board.
