How Do I Make Icing That Looks Like Clear Blue Ocean Water?

I have seen many decorator create icing that looks like clear blue water. How do you do it?

Add some blue gel color to piping gel and put that over your BC. You may want to lightly tint your BC blue also, but don't go too dark or it will make your water a very dark blue.

I ut white bc under the blue gel "water." Makes a nice effect. And if you want waves, you can get whitecaps.

It doesn't take much color to turn the gel water-blue. (Ask me how I found that out. Go ahead! Ask me! icon_redface.gif )

I bought the Wilton blue piping gel in a tube to make the water on a golf cake (for the water hazard).

ok, ok, i can assume...but i'll bite, how'd you find out. LOL


yes, i did this too on a cake i did when i made a golf course and used the piping gel. only mine was over a green fondant covered cake, so the water ended up looking a bit dirty(which would be accurate LOL)
