Hello wonderful cake bakers and decoraters!!
I got a request today from my husbands coworker, for a tie dye cake.. with hot pink, black and white. I'm not sure how to go about doing this without use of an airbrush which I don't have.. Would it be like marbling fondant? Just with all of the colors? lol, really I dont know. Any tips, tricks or advice would be incredibly helpful!!! Thank you so much
I have done this in the past with an airbrush but think you could get a similiar affect with painting it with thinned color....
Not sure if this will help.
i would marble, although you need to be really carefull with the black. it will overrule anything if you mix too much - too much mixing with the black will just add in sludge.
id maybe marble the pink and white, then add much less black and marble it a tiny bit.
xx
I tye-dyed by squirting different colors of BC on the cake (heavily) in a random pattern, then used a spatula to smooth. It worked perfect, just remember to overly smooth, I used the viva paper towel method after mostly smoothed! Fondant would also work paerfect, but my client was insistant on BC. It's on my 80's cake.
