I will definitely get that if need be. I was just hoping to mix it myself with all the colors I already have. Thanks!

Since you've got to color at least two different batches, it might be easier to get the premade color than try to mix it yourself and hope that you get it the same each time. icon_biggrin.gif

Wilton's Cornflower Blue is kinda gray-blue. Adding a very small amount of black will give that indigo undertone.

You've got a good point there!
I'll try the cornflower and add a little black if need be.
Thanks all!

I went to get the Wilton cornflower today and found they have Delphinium Blue, which was EXACTLY the color I needed! Go figure! Thanks all! Now if I could just get my buttercream to crust, I'd be a happy camper!!!

Glad you found just what you needed!

As far as the buttercream goes, I could never get it to crust when I used the Wilton recipe. I switched to Indydebi's buttercream and it crusts perfectly...first time I used it was the first time I ever knew what they really meant by crusting. Not sure which recipe you use, but if you ever want a different one, try Indydebi's...it's great.

I did and it will crust on a spatula, but not on my cake. I think my cakes are too moist, but I don't want to change them cause all my customers LOVE them. I just put it in the fridge to solidify enough to smooth. It works ok, but sometimes frustrating. Oh well! Thanks again!

I was going to suggest delphenium blue, glad you were able to find it.

I use Indydebi's from time to time, but sometimes I have trouble depending on the humidity.

Most of the time I use Sugarshacks recipe and I never have an issue with it crusting. It's a wonderful recipe, she's in an equally humid area as I am so I knew it would work before I even tried it.

You should have picked up the cornflower blue, too. When I've tried to match those shades of blue, the bc and fondant did NOT take the color the same way! I had to use delphinium for one and cornflower for the other. They matched perfectly! (Gonna see if I can find the cake I did that on.)

It's pretty humid where I live too...think that's why Wilton's recipe never worked well for me.

I will definitely try a trial size of the BC when I color it all to see what it does. If no good, I'm only 10 minutes from the craft store!
I will make sure it's right! It's my first wedding. Although it's a small one, it's still VERY important to me and of course the bride and groom.
Thanks again!

Here's the cake I needed both shades of paste for. Notice the fondant polka dots and the bc snail trail border. I can't remember which is which color, but the two icings are definitely colored with different paste colors!

I would just colour the sugarpaste and then use it either using a border mould or just make little teardrop shapes out of sugarpaste and attach them around the base like a piped border - that way you will have the exact colour.

Goodness me - how out of date am I ???Just noticed the date on this post.
