Hi and welcome!
I just saw someone asking the same on yahoo answers...bet it was you I was typing a long response over there and the computer ate it! and it was just too long to type again. Anyhow, you've found the best place to get an answer to your question
The cake in the picture was frosted with buttercream, smoothed very well. The stripes, dots, stars and crown are fondant. You can buy the cutters to do the crown, stars and the dots at Hobby Lobby. The dots are a set of three cutters that Wilton makes.
I wouldn't attempt the whipped cream filling under fondant. It's likely to melt and then you'll end up with saggy fondant.
thank you jan
texas it was me i posted at 10 places this the only one that i got a reply from and a very darn good one
my sons favors are crown cookie cutters
what filling would you suggest?
use chocolate ganache! I just made a delicious peanut butter filling if no one has any peanut allergies...
1 stick of butter
4oz of cream cheese
1 cup of peanut butter ( i used chunky)
1-2 cups confectioner sugar (depending how sweet you want it)
mix all of these until smooth and leave in the fridge while you make:
1 cup of whipping cream
1/4 cup confectioners sugar
whip until stiff and gently fold into peanut mix.
yummy!
