Im doing a red fire truck thats beingndelivered tommorrow MORNING and ive got powdered sugar on the fondant and it wont come off!!!! Didnt get wet or anhthing but i cant get it off looks horrible PLEASEMPLEASE HELP!!!
Paint it with vodka. When it dries, the powdered sugar will be gone. The alcohol will evaporate too.
If you'd like it to be glossy, you could mix some red color with the vodka and paint the whole truck.
I've always used a brush to get off as much as I could and then rubbed my fondant with shortening. The shortening keeps it shiny!
Steam your cake with a clothes steamer. Will get off any powdered sugar and will set everything in place as well as give it a nice finish.
I just wanted to thank all of you for your help! I was up until 2:38 a.m. but it got finished and saved from the powdered sugar! It's far from perfect but the birthday boy LOVED it (and so did his family) so I'm happy! thanks again!
Rub your fondant with another peice of fondant of the same color, kind of buffs the sugar out. I like the steamer method too, because it also makes the cake shine like an actual paint job.
That is the main reason I roll all my fondant for big pieces with shortning - no dusty fondant to worry about. I only roll little pieces that I want to dry with ps or cornstarch.
