I wouldn't pay the debt or buy anything. I would keep the stash hidden in the house ( out of sight out of mind ) to use in an emergency. You know, the kind that usually gets put on a credit card.....tires, brakes, death in the family travel money, etc...

Not everyone is in a bad situation and really she just wants to know ideas on what she could treat herself to. Its found money so I say treat yourself and the debt will get paid. Besides $750 wouldn't really put a dent in it icon_rolleyes.gif

I'd buy a stand mixer. Oh how I dream of a good stand mixer!!

Also, tappits sets, flower cutters, chocolate transfer sheets, a really good bottle of wine icon_lol.gif

Not sure what you already have or need, and to help answer your question without a lecture because let's face it-- you are an adult and are going to do what you want to do...

My first major purchase to help with cakes was a stand mixer, so if you don't have one I highly suggest it.
Other items I am glad I splurged on and cannot live without are some Magic Line cake pans.
AgBay is a good idea, wish I had one. On my Christmas wish list will probably be an airbrush, followed by an edible ink printer. Tappits are cool, I do want some Sugarshack DVDs, and all kinds of cutters.

I would probably treat myself to the one major thing that I have been wanting which is a dvd cake decorating collection (Sugarshack's) icon_biggrin.gif . I am layed off right now so I could only wish for extra $$$ but I am happy for you. I am doing the "new cake supply purchase dance" for you right now. Happy shopping! thumbs_up.gif

Well, I'm out of work, so I would use the money to pay off my doctor's bills that are about to get reported to the credit bureau, and then I'd maybe buy some groceries. Yeesh, the thought of how even that little extra money would be such an incredible relief right now just about makes me wanna cry. Oh, to have disposable income again... icon_smile.gif

Wow. I'd say $750 would make a nice dent in any debt regardless of the balance. And to say it doesn't help is non-sensical. Of course it helps - by $750. Or think of starting a 529 plan for your children's college fund. I'm sorry, when you have that much debt it just seems irresponsible to spend it on frivolous items for a hobby.

Sorry, I know you didn't want these opinions but I just have to say it. I'd spend $50 - $100 on a treat for yourself and put the rest to your bills.

And don't kid yourself about your job security. It does not exist in this economy.

I just went to my first cake show this year and I had lot of fun but not enough extra money to spend on new toys or take any classes. So I have started telling people when ever they ask me what do I want, I say that the best thing they can give me would be money or a visa gift card to go towards my next cake show shopping spree. So if I got that extra $750. it would go straight into my Cake Show Shopping Spree Piggy Bank. So Far I have $50. cause i just started this past weekend, looking to get more soon cause of my birthday and the holidays that are coming up.

but if i really needed something right away I would go get it and save the rest.

As to the Credit Card Issue:
I feel that as long as I'm on top of my bills and it's all on time. I'll do as I wish. but if I was behind on my bills with late payment, that 750.00 will be on it's way to pay that bill. No butts about it.

Really If I was given $750 today I would put 500.00 in the piggy bank and use 200.00 for food.

I simply can't imagine having that much debt, ouch, the combined max of all of our credit cards doesn't go even half that high! I would probably buy just one item and pay the rest on the debt...

I am happy that we only have 2 "debts" which are our mortgage and car payment. When we do come into extra money, we stash it in our savings for things like vacations and extras. Credit cards are for emergencies and travel. If I DID happen to have money to spend on cake supplies (which are paid for by the money I make selling cakes), I would buy an Agbay, and if I had even more, I would get some Magic Line pans.

Go buy the cheapest ticket you can get to the great land of OZ - our economy is doing so much better than yours!! its coming up for summer! and we won't give you any lectures on debt! icon_biggrin.gif

Enjoy your spending spree - at least you know there are 1,000's of people over there waiting in line to buy your Agbay on Ebay when you lose your job and your loan is recalled! Geez guys what a bunch of wet blankets! icon_sad.gif
