I have decided to branch out from my box mix baking for my family. I am beginning to teach myself the Wilton courses. My main reason for branching out is I was diagnosed with cervical cancer this june and thought I'd like to sell cupcakes to aid in cancer research.
Onto my questions:
Which are better disposable or reusable bags?
What is the easiest way to re-fill bag if I need more bc?
Do I need a coupler if I use disposable bags?
I found I love the star tips which would be the best size to achieve the "swirls" ?
What are your favorite bc recipes?
Lastly, only cause I can't remember what else I was going to ask haha
Can I use white BC, flavor it chocolate ?

I prefer chocolate BC but would like to be able to tint it all sorts of colors.
Thank you ladies icon_biggrin.gif

I prefer the reusable bags over the disposable but either way you go it will still work. I find that the disaposable ones sometimes will break or get little tiny holes in them.

Hope this helps and happy baking!

Welcome to CakeCentral Dropoflove! I don't think I can answer all of your questions but maybe a couple and give you a bump too. I like to use reusable icing bags but you might want to check out the tutorial for using an icing plug. It's in a 'Sticky' at the top of the "How do I?" forum. That makes cleanup so much easier and also easier to change colours. I'm not sure how disposables work so I can't say about the coupler. I know a lot of people here love Indydebi's BC recipe which you can find in the recipes section. I'm still playing around to find my fave too! You might be able to find a colourless chocolate flavouring if you want, say, pink coloured chocolate flavoured BC. Otherwise you would usually flavour with cocoa which, of course, turns it brown. As an aside, if you want to colour icing black it really helps to start with brown chocolate icing then add black from there. Really cuts down on the amount of colour you have to use.

Good luck with your cupcakes! Way to go being proactive. Keep up your great attitude![/url]

I use disposable bags, never a problem. I use them with the coupler so I can change tips. Cleanup is a breeze. There are some great BC recipes on here with all sorts of flavors. Use the large size tip, 2D or 190 for a swirl on top of cc. Good luck with baking and with your health.
