I've seen decorators use a fabric steamer on fondant to make it shiny. It seems to work pretty well too.
i bought a fabric steamer because i thought it would work to get the shiny look, im not sure if its because i use MMF but i didnt find that it worked that well...
The first time I saw it used was Buddy on KakeBoss (K for C to avoid a link). He uses 'regular' fondant, not MMF.
I have a small, handheld 'quickie' steamer. Doesn't work that well for fondant. It likes to spit the water, rather than gently extrude steam.
I just tried the edible varnish from the recipe section. It worked really well on small pieces. I don't know about doing the whole cake or anything.
I'm such a dork! I just noticed I never posted the picture!

brushing the fondant with piping gel that has been watered down slightly also works well!! and it's usually very simple to do!!
That's a very cute cake sweet-thing, and you are right, the shiny fondant makes the cake here
Read all the comments, she said she used pam and a paintbrush to get it to shine. A cute cake for sure
I too use a steamer for shiny fondant. Thank you to Carlos for the great tip! I also use luster (or pearl) dust for a shimmer shine.
Thanks so much!
She hadn't responded to the comments when I asked. Would Pam make it greasy?
