Ok. I've read on here a few times about people adding a tub of store bought icing the cake mix!! Is it just the tub of icing in addition to the required ingredients?? I don't need to add anything else??

Also, Will this work in addition to the cake mix extender? I need about a box and a half for the cake I'm making and would like to avoid making two batches of cake.

Thanks,
Christine

I've done it with Butter Pecan cake and with the Extender. When I added the store bought frosting, I added all the other ingredients the same as called for on the back of the box. However, when I did it with the extender, I added the tub of frosting in place of the sour cream. The result is a slightly more dense, but extremely moist cake. My family and friends LOVE IT when I do this.

Ok gals let me see if I am reading this right, you can add a tub of cake frosting to cake mix and bake? Wow this is great I find that I have to also mix two boxes of mix to get what I need and then some left overicon_smile.gif

The added icing just helps w/moisture and making it more dense....to actually get more batter you should try the cake mix extender from the recipes section. I think this usually yields about one and half boxes......I've never actually measured it so I'm not sure what it equals in cups though.

Thanks for the info Misdawn. I'm trying the recipe tonight!!

You're Welcome! Let me know how it goes! By the way, if you like butter pecan cake, it's GREAT with the caramel pecan frosting in it!
