I have Wilton's Trim and Turn turntable. It's worked okay, but if there is a very heavy cake on it, it doesn't turn smoothly and makes icing a cake with a bench scraper very frustrating.

I saw at the craft stores that Wilton has a "professional" grade turn table. It's about $40, so I'm wondering if this is worth it. Does anyone have it? Does it turn smoothly? Is it worth the money?

I'm doing a wedding cake next weekend and really need to get a nicer, smoother turntable.

Is it the really heavy metal one? If so, I bought those and returned it because it wobbles.

A new turntable was my request this year for Mother's Day...after some research here, I passed on any Wilton...I got the Fat Daddio and love it! It is heavy but it turns like a dream! Well worth the money.

I had the Wilton heavy duty one and it wobbled terribly. I replaced it with the Fat Daddio and it's wonderful.

I researched and researched the Wilton turntables and found that they were just not what I wanted. I instead took a shot and spent $8 CAD at Ikea for their lazy susan, and I couldn't believe just how great it worked. Hubby went back and bought me 2 more. Very simple turntable design, very close to the table and can support a 4 layer 3 icing layer cake with ease! Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents!

Two words: Fat Daddio

I have a Fat Daddio and find that it turns too easily. Does anyone else find that? I've never turned any other professional turntables but my husband saw me working with mine and asked how that cannot bother me? It was a bit of a pain when I was decorating a three tiered wedding cake and I had to hold onto the board to keep it still. Maybe there's something wrong with mine??

I have the Wilton tilt and turn and the only problem I have with it is, when I lift it I have to make sure to hold on to the botton of the stand or it falls off. That is good for storing but not for moving with a cake on it, but as far as turning and tilting and supporting a large cake it works fine.

I have the Wilton trim n turn Ultra and I find that it's not a smooth ride! It tend to 'judder' at times. I'm really disappointed because I'm in Australia and they're so much more expensive here. i'm not sure I can justify the expense of a better one. In fact, I'm not sure Fat Daddio is even available here.
Oh well, I guess I just have to put up with it.

AHow much weight can this white wilton professional turn table take.

I have an 8 12 16 tier cake. im wondering if this turntable can take the weight without breaking at tbe wedding reception

Ralch, usually the turntable is used during decorating, not for displaying the cake.  I'm not sure how that would work.
