Ok my trusted new friends! I am making a cake for a little girl who will be turning 3 and she loves my little pony. Now since wilton does not make the my little pony cake pan anymore I thought I would carve it out myself then I thought about it really had and since I am not the best carver in the world I'd better do something else. I thought about a tiered cake (2), something pink, purple, yellow, rainbowish..ok my thing is would it be too simplistic to buy some little ponies and incorporate them on the cake? I've looked on the web for my little pony cakes buuuttt well nothing I would copy except one I saw on flickr but she did use the wilton pan..so any ideas or suggestions? I knew I should have agreed to do the darn care bears! : )

I really like this cake made by DiscoLady.

I know you tried searching the internet, but did you try searching for "My Little Pony" in the search box on this site? That search will bring up some really cute cakes with lots of ideas. In answer to your question, no I don't think it's a bad idea to incorporate little pony toys onto the cake. I think as long as you make sure that the cake is an appropriate size and the decorations are to scale with the ponies, it'll look great!

Actually I did but didn't find that cake! How cute is that. I think I'll copy it and just change a few things like you all suggested to make it my own! That was easy! lol Thanks!

Those are the Ponyville ponies. You can find them by the regular MLP's at Walmart! Super cute.

Sometimes Toys R Us has a multipack of little ponies. I got one that had 6 ponies for $10, which is pretty good. My daughter is obsessed with those tiny ponies.

I used Discolady's cake as a reference this past weekend. Her cake must have been big because I did a 2 tier (10" and 6") and could only get 2 ponies on top. It's in my photos if you want to take a look!
Also, I borrowed the birthday girl's ponies to put on the cake. That way, she could tell me ALLLLLL about them as I placed them on her cake!! icon_smile.gif

I made my own ponies for my nieces cake http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1230315
Orginally I was going to use the little ponies like Discolady did but they were to small so I made my own .
I just cut out gumpaste and piped the ponies on with royal icing.
I love MLP myself, I went through a dozen Megan and Sundances when I was a kid, I've been cruising Ebay for some time trying to find the set like I had.

I looked everywhere for the multipack of ponies and found none. Our Toys R Us didn't even have any ponyville ponies. Walmart didn't have any small ones. I did however get some from ebay..7 ponies for 5.99 but I even think those are too big but I will work with it and see what happens. I will be sure to take a picture.

Lori00, I don't know if you have a Family Dollar store where you live but that's where I found my ponies. They were in tube, 3 for $5. They were the Ponyville ponies and were no more than 1.5 inches tall, I believe. My cake was a 6' and a 10' round respectively. The pic is the most recent in my photos.

Hi all,

I found the ponyville ponies in Family Dollar! Thanks! A picture of the cake is posted under childrens birthday. The picture didn't come out that well. For some reason i couldn't get enough light. But my client was very happy with it. The colors are a baby yellow and baby green.
Thanks again for all your help.

Your cake turned out so cute! I love it! I love the colors and the bright loops! Also, I really like how the clouds are two-toned. Very nice!
