I am getting ready to make about 150 to 200 fall leaves for a 3 teired cake. My Brother and SIL do not like fondant. So I was wanting to try MMF instead thinking they might like it better. So....my questions are. Does MMF dry like regular fondant in that I could dry these leaves over cotton balls etc to give them realistic shaping instead of flat leaves. Then once I have them made, how long will they keep in a plastic container with an airtight lid? Does it color as good as regular fondant? Can you use color dust on them for accents? Or should I use gumpaste instead? If so, any idea about how much gumpaste I would need?

Any help would be appreciated.

Just to clarify, is it the taste of fondant they don't like? or is it the texture? If it is the taste then MMF will be a good alternative, however if it is the texture they don't like, then i'm not sure what to suggest b/c MMF has basically the same chewy texture people don't like.

I have come across this a few times, people say the don't like fondant. Well when I ask them if it is the taste or the texture they don't like I always get different responses and that can make a difference if you are making a cake for them.

MMF behaves very much like other fondant, and tastes much better. It wil dry firm, but not rock hard, like gumpaste. If you add color in the liquid adding stage, it takes color very well. You can also knead it in later. Yes you can use dusts and powders. You could also consider candy clay.

MMF can be made in very small batches so you can experiment easily.
