I'm using Satin Ice for the first time and love it except that I have some cornstarch marks that won't go away. The fondant is red - maybe it's standing out b/c of the intense color, I don't know. Anyway, that's not the real problem. I'm making a toolbox cake and have screwed up the edges and now have a package effect going on. I couldn't start over b/c the underside of the fondant had picked some of the chocolate icing underneath so there was no turning back once it was on. I trimmed as much as the fondant as I could but I'm still not happy with it. Is there anything I could do to lessen the appearance of the lines or maybe a way I could use the mistake and make it look purposeful in the toolbox design? I'm grasping at straws here! ACK!!

Paint the cornstarch with vodka. The vodka will evaporate and the cornstarch will disappear.

Crap. I don't have any vodka. Thanks for the tip, though!

Use a clothing steamer.. lightly steam the cake and all the cornstarch will go away and also shine up the fondant.

You can use clear vanilla or almond extracts too.

Vodka is cheaper, that's why I use it, but any colorless extract will work. The higher the alcohol content the faster it will dry.

You can also go over the cake lightly with shortening and the corn start will go away

I tried some clear vanilla on a couple of small spots on the side and while the corn starch went away, the area is now shiny. Will that disappear?
