A friend of mine has paid me to make this cake for her. This is the first cake I have really taken money for. Please tell me what you think? It wont attach so it is in my photos.

Hmm, I didn't see anything striped in your photos--it looks like possibly the last photo is the uniced choco cakes? Often the last photo loaded is the top left photo but I'm not sure.
Maybe it takes a few minutes to appear...

Mindy, I think you did just fine incorporating the two designs. I think we are all our own harshest critics. I still hate to write on cakes, and use cut-outs any time I can get away with them. I really admire the people who write effortlessly and always have things centered. It's a true gift. 
The cake looks good, your BC is nice and smooth (something i've yet to perfect!) As for the writing, it comes with practice. I also use cut outs whenever I can. Keep up the good work!

I think your cake looks nice....it is prettier than the two you had to look at for ideas.
Writing is hard for many people....even after years of practice. Try this option.....buy a set of plaque cutter, roll out some fondant and cut out, then write your message with an edible marker pen.
