I got an order today from a client who requested very little or no frosting on 2 birthday cakes.. Any ideas? one will be cherry cake (also looking for a recipe) and one will be wasc cake. any ideas are appreciated. thank you.
Why doesn't she want frosting? Is it because she doesn't want it to be too sweet? You might be able to use stabilized whipped cream instead. Otherwise, if she okayed it, using fruit on the top would be a pretty way to get around the lack of frosting.
I can't imagine someone ordering a naked birthday cake!
Put fresh strawberries on the strawberry cake. I have a friend who is vegan and strict about eating sugars and all. I made him a chocolate cake unfrosted ... but I put walnuts in the bottom of the pan before the batter, when I turned it out, it looked delicious ... the dark cake with all the nuts on top.
I actually saw a wedding cake done this way once. The filling was a cream filling and done really thick, then all the cakes were cut into very pristine squares and stacked on glass stands. Was very simple and pretty
My dh doesn't eat frosting either. When I make a cake I just put powder in my sifter and cover the top.
Use a light coating of piping gel or dust w/powder sugar.
Use a few fondant decorations? OR dust the ps thru a doily or stencil.
