I am wanting to use poured fondant for some cupcakes I am doing but would like to have some buttercream underneath it.. it that possible??? Has anyone done this before and have some tips they would care to share???
oh well.. a lot of people looking at my question but I guess no one knows or has experimented... I will continue my search elsewhere to see what I can find....
Ok poured fondant is a pain in the butt.
Myself I would avoid it all costs.
I would run screaming in fact.
Yes you can pour it over buttercream.
I can't see it working well on a cupcake.
I would figure it needs straight edges to be successful.
thanks for the info...... now should I try it or blow the idea off!!! Great... I guess I do a practice run this week end and see what happens!! Thanks for you info... I will let you know!!
Easier than pouring the fondant would be dipping the cupcakes in the poured fondant. Ice them smooth in the buttercream, chill them in the fridge, when the poured fondant is on the cooler/thicker side dip the cupcakes in.
Exactly! Dip the tops. It's even easier if you pop them in the freezer to get the bc really cold.
Yes, it can be done, but the question is why?? That would be a disgustingly oversweet cupcake.
Just as Bijoudelanuit & leahs said, dip the top if you want to try poured fondant on cupcakes. Here's a youtube tutorial (doesn't have bc on it though).
