Cupcake Bouquet-Cheaper Option For Styrofoam Ball?
Baking By lillermom Updated 16 Aug 2009 , 2:15pm by mixinvixen
The styrofoam balls I use for my cupcake bouquets seems to be awfully expensive (even with a 50% off coupon!) so I am wondering if there is anything else that can be used or if you all had ideas for a cheaper substitute?!
The dollar tree sells styrofoam shapes. I haven't noticed what sizes they have but it might be worth seeing if they have what you need.
Otherwise, you could always raise the price of your cupcake bouquet a teensy bit to cover the styrofoam ball.
my $$ store used to carry the big ones, which was great but they dont anymore so i was too cheap to buy the ones from michaels, so i just popped in a red cabbage (for my large sixed bouquet) and small styro fruit for dollarama for my small vases, it worked like a charm!!!
you guys are geniouses with the cabbage idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am totally going to try it this weekend with a bouquet I am doing for a friends birthday. I will also have to check out the dollar store! We don't have any in my area so I will keep my eyes peeled!
i found the styro balls to be expensive also, so i suggest using a couple of inches of pea gravel or styro packing peanuts in the bottom of the pot, coupled with a cut out of foam core board...much much cheaper!

hi all, just came back from trusty wallmart, and i found the big styro's for 3.97....so way cheaper compared to michaels!!!
Please please can someone post a picture of a cupcake bouquet or tell me what it involves !!
thank you! the great thing is that they make a huge visual impact but really, they're quite easy and can be "assembly lined" really easily also! i sold my valentine packaged ones for $50, delivered free in a 15 mile radius. alot of husbands will send them to wives, and also friends to friends.
