All I can think of are the Italian flag, a wine bottle, or an olive oil bottle.

I charge a minimum of $3 for my cupcakes.

What flavor cupcakes are you making? Maybe you could incorporate a very Italian food item on top if it coordinates with your cupcake flavor. Like chopped hazelnuts on top of a chocolate cupcake (very Italian flavor combination).

Candied or Jordan almonds are very Italian. Or maybe you could find some Italian candy online and place a bite-size candy on top of each cupcake.

Do you think it would be too "Funny" to make them look like spaghetti and meatballs and pizza?

What about a little fondant canolli on top? Or a pizza!

This amuses me, because spaghetti and meatballs is about as American as it comes, in reality.

You could also do some awesome things with the cameo molds you can get on Global Sugar Art, or little art-type things, what with Italy being famous for like half the art in Europe it seems like some days.
