I would be so thankful if any one could direct me to a template for a calla lilly leaf. Even a picture of the leaf unfolded would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Deborah

and some just use a heart shape cookie cutter. point is tip of lily / top of heart wrapped to form base of lilly. Stamen is log of fondant around a wire.
Thank you Doug that is what i needed to know the heart is perfect for the leaf. Thanks again

I need to know one more thing, can you eat gum paste calla lillies, if you can, do they taste good. If you can't what do you tell the people and when do you take it off the cake and what do you do with it. Sorry I said one thing but got carried away with my thinking. Thanks in advance
Deborah
i just made a heart pattern and it works great, but you want a leaf pattern i just use the basic leaf, for the middle it looks nice if you roll it in fine kosher salt
great idea thanks ninatat, do you just brush off the kosher salt after rolling, wow i think that is such a good idea
thanks again
Deborah
gumpaste....
well...technically edible.
practically -- ICK ---- think hard toothpaste....think chewing on paper...
won't kill ya...
but why even bother eating when you have cake!?
Thanks Doug, very true about paper yuk, I just didn't want to make anyone sick, thanks again
Deborah
hi, no i just roll it lightly, it's pretty fine, if it looks to thick i just brush it off, but one roll will do it
thanks ninatat, i am so lala somethimes, lol, I understand now what you mean, I was thinking rock salt and it would give impression and you mean leave salt for an effect but kosher not rock salt. I must have been sleep typing (sleep walking) lol
Thanks again
Deborah
To put salt on the middle, just brush the yellow part with egg white or gum glue and then roll it in kosher salt. It comes out looking great.
Thanks Texas_Rose I am really trying to put it all together and with all the help yall are giving me I am so happy. I really appreciate it.

did I do it the wrong way
NO!
It was a very respectable FIRST attempt.
And with each one you do, they will get better and better.
Practice makes proficient!
Thanks Doug, I was looking at more pics and I think I need to close the lilly up a little more. My biggest prob is I really never did any gardens. Ill try to go out and look at real ones or silk ones at stores lol I will keep practicing you are a good teacher just think if it was in a class wow you would blow everyone away
that came out good see on the left it curls continue to curl the sides a little more and start a little lower on that side, in the front where you crossed over pull it back and make that curl also and it will be perfect. go to u-tube and watch edna, it took me a few times.
Thanks ninatat, i will and i will watch Edna again. Yall are such kind people I am in awe. Thanks again
why would you want to eat sugar gum? The cake isn't enough? Sugar gum is a food grade product, but most of the flowers etc. are also constructed with wire, thread, floral tape etc. Gonna eat that too?
