I would be so thankful if any one could direct me to a template for a calla lilly leaf. Even a picture of the leaf unfolded would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Deborah

wilton method: http://www.wilton.com/technique/Calla-Lily

and some just use a heart shape cookie cutter. point is tip of lily / top of heart wrapped to form base of lilly. Stamen is log of fondant around a wire.

Here is a link to tonedna's calla lily video on youtube. It is part 3 where she starts to cut the lily with a heart cutter:

Here is part 4:

I am sure the first two parts will come up when you go to these links, if you need them.

I need to know one more thing, can you eat gum paste calla lillies, if you can, do they taste good. If you can't what do you tell the people and when do you take it off the cake and what do you do with it. Sorry I said one thing but got carried away with my thinking. Thanks in advance

i just made a heart pattern and it works great, but you want a leaf pattern i just use the basic leaf, for the middle it looks nice if you roll it in fine kosher salt

To put salt on the middle, just brush the yellow part with egg white or gum glue and then roll it in kosher salt. It comes out looking great.

NO!

It was a very respectable FIRST attempt.

And with each one you do, they will get better and better.

that came out good see on the left it curls continue to curl the sides a little more and start a little lower on that side, in the front where you crossed over pull it back and make that curl also and it will be perfect. go to u-tube and watch edna, it took me a few times.

why would you want to eat sugar gum?  The cake isn't enough?  Sugar gum is a food grade product, but most of the flowers etc. are also constructed with wire, thread, floral tape etc.  Gonna eat that too?
