What's the worst injury you've ever gotten trying to open a 10lb tub?
Have you tried the screwdriver-hold-the-tub upside-down-while-steadying-the-lid-with-your-elbow-and-trying-to-pry-with-the-screwdriver trick?
Or how about following the "directions" (Ha!) and pushing the screwdriver down through the imaginary hole and then pushing the handle toward the middle of the lid trick so that the screwdriver rips through the edge of the lid and hits you in the chin?
I'm not sure which is my favorite yet...
I haven't tried to open one, but if I ever do, I'll use this trick, "Dear, can you come open this lid for me? I'm just not strong enough!"
Then I can watch hubby struggle with it.
I can relate to that!!! My husband's a builder, so I kinda have been doing stuff like that for a while 
But it's not so easy LOL
They are rough!! The first bucket I ever bought was about 5 minutes before a class I was taking, guess what- no screwdriver! I like to never have gotten in with.
What I do now is take a bow cutter an slice each of the thin squares, poops off good then!
My favorite is the 'banging my knuckles into the lid after the screwdriver has popped through the hole'.
I use FondX so often, I can now open the lids injury-free. But it's a conscious effort!
I just wish the lids were reusable. I have a tower of empty buckets that reaches halfway through the troposphere but nary a lid.
LOL at this topic because it's so true!! I used to use the screwdriver to do the holes, but, that just took forever. I know just use scissors for the holes and it works like a charm.
Although I didn't injuries messing with the holes, I have, however, hurt my fingers trying to get the friggin lid off after I cut the holes!!
I've not experienced it, but I can sympathize b/c it happened to me when opening a tub of mud (for walls). That's when dh comes into play! Maybe you guys should email the company & let them know your complaint. Business don't know how the consumer feels about a product unless we the consumer lets them know. I would go ahead & mention not being able to reuse the lid too!
Those big buckets are murder for sure. I think the bakery supplies industry provides a gadget to make it a little easier, kind of a pry bar. I always have difficulty at the opposite end of the scale, those little tiny containers of luster dust. Can't tell you how many times I have come close to lustering myself and my kitchen floor!

There's a WONDERFUL tool I use for that--my tiny strap wrench! If the lid is big enough--ie, the size of a soda bottle lid--I can also use my Beverage Buddy (http://www.linktotheweb.com/07enablers/beverage_buddy.htm). Both give me the leverage I need to get the lids off safely and carefully.
I wonder if the Bev Buddy might help with the bucket lids, too!

I use a beer bottle opener to pen those little boogers (not the pointy kind). I was killing my fingers trying to get them open and figured there had to be a better way when the light bulb came on
Restaurants do have tools to open buckets like these. You can buy them at restaurant supply stores. I've seen plastic ones as cheap as $2. There's metal ones, too, though.

There are also containers in the bead section of craft stores that have screw on lids that would be good for dusts

LOL! I have been there. I don't know why they make their stupid lids like that. It seriously made me so mad! I was jumping up and down, cussing, etc. I haven't bought a new bucket since then.

I did that! It was silver luster dust. It was pretty.
So glad I vented about the lids! Thanks you guys for posting the cool solutions. I, too, just thought I was retarded with the buckets. 
when i worked in a deli as a teenager, the pickle buckets were exactly like the FondX lids. We cut the imaginary holes into slits using a sharp knife. Put the knife tip in the imaginary hole (aim the knife away from you), the handle will be straight up, and lightly tap on the end of the handle. This will easily cut the slits. Don't get me started on the lustre dusts!! DH has to open them for me!
i super pearl dusted my self once,i had just bought it and wanted to see what it looked like. after about 5 minutes of trying to open it (killing my fingers) i finally used all the strength i had left and pulled hard,and POOF,all over me. thanks for the idea of the beverage opener,i never even thought of that!
