I am doing a baby shower cake for a co-worker. The sex of the baby is not known and there is no real theme. The only thing I know is that the babies room is lime green and brown. Any ideas? I have looked thru the gallery and have found a few that I like I am just unsure what to do.

It needs to feed about 20 people.

Lime green and brown would make a nice color scheme. If you wanted more color, than add small amounts of a medium pink and medium blue (covers whatever sex the baby is). If you do add color, either match the intensity of the lime green, or do lighter and darker shades of the lime green. Using stripes and dots is contemporary and uni-sex (stay away from flowers). There are tons of ideas on CC if you want to add additional fondant accents such as a soother, rattle, teething toys, etc.

I looked at your pics and it looks like you have some experience modeling with fondant. With lime green and brown, you could do frogs or jungle animals. Or you could cover the cake in lime green fondant, put a baby in a tub as your topper and have bubbles coming down over the sides of the cake. Your possiblities are endless. I like using the shower invitation for your theme also.

We really didnt have formal invitations. I made someone on Micro word and we passed them out at the office. That is the way we do things around here LOL.

Maybe I will do the animals I have been wanting to try them. I have never covered a cake with fondant and I am not sure I should try that on a work cake. I did make the MMF and love it but i just use it for accents.

A diaper bag cake is adorable and not very difficult. You can cover in fondant or buttercream. Make a handle out of fondant, add some fondant toys or rattle. There's lots in the galleries to look at, and somewhere heliopops (I think) has a tutorial on her website.

I love the diaper bag cakes. The one in my avatar is pretty simple to make and can work with any color scheme.

I did a bump/belly cake a few weeks ago. The "dress" was sage green with ivory cornelli lace. It was very easy, decorating-wise. A couple of oven-safe bowls are all you need. Check out my pictures if you like.

Rattle cakes are great for incorporating nursery colors! They feed about 25 people, and are SUPER quick and easy! I have one in my photos, as well
