216 Views, 2 Favorites, And No Comments?

I'm not a comment-fisher (or am I?), but I'm starting to question my beginner skills here! I've got a cake uploaded on 7/28ish, not a single comment but over 200 views and 2 favorites.
Not asking for comments, but was it that bad? heh
(To save my own ego, I'm chalking it up to one of the glitches on the site over the last several weeks!)
from one gallery supporter to another, (and i haven't seen your cake), there are tons of cakes that haven't gotten comments, and i can't understand why people would look at a cake, and not comment on it. if it's worth looking at, it's worth commenting on.
i'm sorry this has happened. i wish everyone, not just gallery supporters would take the time to comment on at least one cake when they come on here. it would make it so much easier for us gallery supporters, and a lot nicer for those who really want critiques for their cakes.
I know, diane, and I'm guilty of slacking as well.. I'm headed to the gallery to do some make-up work!
kiddiekakes, thanks for the comment
For some reason, a lot of people just don't like to comment. It's strange to me. Especially, as everyone always wants comments. But anyway, I think your cake looked great. And as I said in my comment - I loved your bow. It was so pretty and flowy.
A lot of people look at cakes and never post in the forums, so they may be shy about posting comments.
Personally I don't care much if I get comments and sometimes I will describe how I did the cake in my description so no one has to leave a comment asking how it was done
it doesn't take but a few seconds to post at least one comment on a cake. if everyone here did that, then there wouldn't be an overload of uncommented cakes.
I always try to post comments when I am looking at the cakes. It is always nice to do.
I have to admit I'm a lurker, I look at pics but don't comment on most of them. The main reason is most of the pictures I look at already have all the comments I can think of to make.
"oh it's so pretty" "it's so well done" "how did you do that" etc. etc.
I leave comments when i feel like what i have to say is different than everyone elses.... otherwise, i feel like it would be inadequate and might seem insincere (when it really isn't) ...
But I'm a lurker in the forums too, I don't post much anywhere.... fear of rejection or starting a fight i guess...
Someone told me when I asked the same thing...and they said look at how many views and not the comments and that helped..........I must have commented on 30 cakes today alone and there are still 12 pages of uncommented, its a shame....but you are doing great..don't worry about that....and welcome
Ok now I want to see it but can't find it. Where can i find it?
I have to admit that I too am guilt of looking, loving the cakes but not posting a comment. I didn't think about it. I guess we do want to know what other pro's think of our work. I will post comments on the ones I view from now on.
I understand that completely. I haven't gotten a comment on my Spongebob cake. 125 views (no favs and no comments). I am a gallery supporter too and I know there are a lot out there without comments. So if you take time to click on a cake and look come on and leave a comment. It does make people feel good. I know I look forward to them myself.
I think when we had those glitches in the last 2 weeks or so, some cakes never even made it onto the home page, therefore a lot of people never saw them, and thats usually when people leave comments. I know I uploaded a cake with a wedding dress around that time, and I had to really search to find it because the same photos stayed on the whole day.

I don't know. I always try to post a comment if I look, but sometimes I leave the computer and forget. BTW, your cakes are fantastic! So I wouldn't worry about it.
I have one that has 240 views and 2 fav. uploaded about the sametime and no comments

I uploaded a picture in June that had 940 views, 5 favorites and no comments. Then this morning I noticed that someone finally left one. It's great to get comments and I think most people try to leave one when they can. But sometimes pictures just fall through the cracks. I try not to take it personally.
(But I do have to say..... I was happy that someone finally commented.)
Hi girls!!I´m Deby, from CC spanish forum (yes! pardon my english )I was reading your post, and i´m totally agree!!
I became a Gallery Supporter, because i can´t forget the feeling ,the huge smile on my face, when i saw the first comment at my first photo.
And i know, i´m only a begginer, a newbie.But i was thrilled.
And i want everybody feel the same!!
I can´t believe when i´m doing my favorite work on the uncommented pics, and saw a LOT of photos without any comment and a LOT of views.
i really feel sad
Yes!! If you take time to click on a cake, you take time to comment on it!!
All comments make the cake decorators soooo happy!! Even a simple little smiling face or thumbs up !!
Have a very comment day!!
I have made myself a promise that everytime I log in and everytime I view a cake, I'm going to comment it...
I hate being a brat about not getting any, it's so silly... but when you present a cake to someone 'not of the cake world' and they go crazy for it... it's not the same as having a cake-peer make a comment.
Know what I mean?
I comment on photos every chance I get because I feel that they wouldn't post a pic if the didn't want some kind of feed back besides I love it when people comment on mine
Molly
I don't comment on cakes because I feel like I have nothing to say. I don't do constructive criticisms because I've had too many people have a total meltdown on me even when they've SPECIFICALLY ASKED for my concrit--not here, before I ever got here--and I just think "ooh shiny" reactions sound insincere even when they're not.
Of course, I also don't much care if people comment on my cakes, either; I put them up to be looked at but it's not like they're OMG BEST CAKES EVAR, so I don't expect them to particularly stand out of the crowd and deserve comments--good OR bad, really!
Please don't feel bad because you don't get a comment on a picture, if you got so many views that's a compliment on itself, I joined the gallery support members because of this situation but sometimes I work on this for hours and I can't get the pages down from 12, there are so many pics! Now, if everyone would comment at least one time it will be of so much help, and let me tell you most of my pics have no comments either
I'm not a comment-fisher........
Yes, you most definately are.

I to sit and comment on pages of pictures and I found out I can't get the pages down to 12. I do it to show respect to everyone who takes time out to upload their hard work.

I don't think it's a bad thing to be a "comment fisher", because I think the majority of people who post pictures are hoping for positive feedback. I'm a cookie-obsessed decorator (I admit it!), so I don't look at too many cakes, but I always try to leave a comment when I look. Getting a comment, for me, is a day brightener. In the scheme of things, it's a little thing, but it's such an easy way to have a positive impact on someone else's life...if ever so briefly.

Yes, you most definately are.
No you are making a valid point, and a good one. Your cakes are good and I also wish people take more time to make comments on cakes and less on fresh remarks in a forum, but we can't have everything I guess.
Maybe I should have said 'I'm not normally a comment-fisher'. It's ok... my original statement also said.. 'or am I?'. I don't mind being called out.
i usually try to leave a comment especially if the comments are less then the amount that are listed as favorites.. unless for two reasons- one.. there are 40+ comments and +++ favorite (just for example) or i'm very busy and just glancing through pics. no time to leave a comment. BUT in the latter reason- i try to go back later and leave a comment.
i just took a look at the photo button for your cakes and wow you have some fantastic pics!! soon as i get done with water changes on my aquariums i'll dig through them
