Coffee Filters As Baking Cups?

hey everyone...

So i may be totally stupid to think this is original or even possible BUUUT

I was wondering if I could make jumbo cupcakes in coffee filters?

the coffee filters wont hold their shape or stand alone without support. The cake batter is heavier the the paper and would flatten the filters.

Coffee filters are made...to filter. The batter would just go into the filter.
That would be really neat though if you could take like a 4" pan and bake little cakes in it, with a paper liner.

I know this is an old thread, but I was looking up this very thing and found only this one post regarding the substitution.

IT WORKS!

I tried it, even though I read the above posts. I just didn't have any baking cups and wasn't going back to the store. I just greased the tins and fitted/flattened the filters right in there. Worked PERFECTLY!!
