Hellow fellow cupcaker's. This weekend I need to make a cake/cupcake stand. I'll be making an 8'' round cake plus 40 cupcakes for a baby shower.

I want to make my own cupcake stand using CakeJournal's instructions. My questions is what size's should I use for the cupcake's? I'm wondering if I should make it a 3 tier (top tier holding the cake with bottom two holding some cupcakes) or if I should make it a 4 tier using the same as above for display.

I dont really want it to tall-but I guess I'm not to picky right now. I just want to make sure that it will be sturdy enough to hold the 8'' cake. I dont want it following over.

Any help is great;y appreciated.

Thanks!

i asked a carpenter friend to make a cupcake tower for a jungle safari themed cake(9" round) and 30 cupcakes... the sizes are 9, 12, 15 & 18... at the top, i placed the 9" cake w/ 12" styro as cake board then scattered the cupcakes on the 3 other layers.... it still can accommodate more cupcakes but my friend used a pvc pipe at the center so it gives more room for the cupcakes. hope this gives you an idea in how many cupcakes can cakejournal's cupcake stand can hold icon_smile.gif

I made this one out of Styrofoam blocks and foamcore boards .. That is an 8' cake used for the washtub and it has 50 cupcakes on it.

I have looked EVERY WHERE for a cake stand her in Aussie, But they are having this big fad: all the cake stands are metal with only 12 round holders!!

Its not what I need... come on, I need some a lot bigger, I considered getting one made but never had any clue where to find pictures or a design!!

Thank you for the links, they really helped... Just need to get it made. would have been so much easier if I could walk into my cake shop and they have three sizes instead of one!!

I made the two cupcake stands in my photos:

The larger one held a boatload of cupcakes.

I LOVE BOTH OF THEM... They are great!!! Love how one is flat and the other High, gives you more of a choice on what suits your needs of the occasion!!

Thanks for your submission!! icon_biggrin.gif

Very cool links Shady!

To the OP: if you go and look at Antonia74's profile, she has a link on her profile page that will take you to pictures of her cupcake stand. There are also directions.
