I'm makeing a 5 teired wedding cake its going to be 8,10,12,14,16" but I have tried several frostings and they all stick to the cake boards when its time to cut the cake. I'm trying to find a good tasting white frosting that wont stick to the cake boards anybody have any ideas?
You can try lightly sprinkling powdered sugar on the top of your icing between your tiers. Some people use coconut, but then you have to worry about nut allergies. Hopefully someone else will have some ideas. Good luck. It should be a fantastic cake!
I spray a very light coating of the baking spray on the bottom of the board before I stack it. It usually works quite well.
We use "donut sugar" where I work. Not sure where you buy it from, but it is a special powdered sugar that does not dissolve.
I tried the powdered sugar and it didnt work the entire top of the cake was pulled off when we lifted the layer above. as for donut sugar that doesnt dissolve where would you find that? I'm willing to try anything so thanks for the ideas so far maybe someone else will ahve some too..
You can buy that type of sugar from the King Arthur Flour Co.
It is called Snow White Non-Melting Sugar. www.BakersCatalogue.com
