Okay, so the vote is - it happened because the cake may have been not completley defrosted or room temp. That makes sense. Funny, because I have read in other posts that a lot of people friost thier cakes when partially frozen as they are easier to work with! Maybe they meant only the crumb coat. icon_smile.gif The cake was definitely cold still when I frosted it...not frozen, but not room tempature.

Thank you all So very much for the input. I really appreciate it (and also your kind words). I was embarassed to even present this cake due to the icing, but I was at work all day and had to deliver it that evening. Went home, gasped, panicked, tried fixing it, eventually said oh well, and left iwth it. lol

Birthday girl was happy, guess thats all that matters. It was a free cake to her.

I never did think it was the icing recipe, but I wanted to put that in that way everyone knew exactly what I was working with. I knew I did something wrong, just didn't know what it oculd have been.

PS - About Arizona weather, I dont keep up with the temp, but it sure feels sticky and humid. I checked, and today's humidy is 23%. And its not very hot, only 101 right now. I thikn last weekend it was 111? But it seems that I feel the humidity worse when I am in an air conditioned room or car. Right now, I am in a office and it feels very humid. The moisture comes through in the AC air somehow. lol. It feels like its blowing wet air out, its very strange. Feels so sticky and yucky, I hate humidity. Glad to know that wont affect any future cakes...
