Does anyone know how to make a dinosaur from fondant or of any tutorials? I've done a search and haven't been able to come up with anything. I'm making a dinosaur-themed cake for this weekend, and I would like to do a dinosaur topper along with a volcano. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

When I did mine (sorry, it's not in the gallery), I printed a photo of what I wanted it to look like and then I just started playing with it. It took me some time since it was first time ever sculpting.

The book Clay Characters for Kids by Maureen Carlson gives really simple step-by-step directions for making characters out of clay. There are directions for a lizard and a dragon-both similar to a dinosaur.

There are also a couple of other books for use with Sculpey Polymer Clay. Maybe if you googled "making clay figures" or something like that you might find directions online. Fondant is just like clay after all...except you can eat it!

Got mine at the local Hobby Lobby. Not sure if Michaels or any place else would have it.

Check out this Blog of a friend of mine. She did a T-Rex Cake in Dec 2008. This a full scale T-Rex and everyone loved it.

Wow that turned out great! I recently made a dinosaur cake and used a mini wondermold pan and covered it in fondant then just molded a head and tail. I wish I'd have seen your cake first because they would have been perfect because I too was having a hard time trying to figure out how to mold one completely.
