Hi, I am in the beginning process of starting my first business, my very own little cake shop. I have been doing special occasion cakes for over 16 years, and I have now decided to share with everyone my passion for fabulous cakes and cute cupcakes. I am trying to build my inventory as cheaply as possible, since I do not have much money. If you have any of the below listed items, that you are not using, have no need for, or would just simply like to help a young girl chase her dream please email me.

I am still looking for;
-Cake pans of all shapes and sizes
-Cupcake liners
-Frosting bags/cupplers/and tips of all sizes
-Frosting tint
-And generally anything you can think of that would help get my bakery going

Thank you so much, and God Bless!!

What do y'all think about this?

People ask for everything from free cars to money to prescription meds...the Wanted section of CL should be renamed the Begging section.

Yeah, lots of people ask for stuff for their wedding ... dresses, centerpieces, rings, decorations, etc.

I think it's funny she has been doing it 16 years, but calls herself a "young girl"

That's exactly what I thought! She clearly is not a "young girl" unless she started making cakes from birth. icon_eek.gif

ditto! what is that all about, young girl?
What is she, a broke college student, trying to collect free items from people so she can go sell them on ebay?

I have seen it before on that site, people asking for cars, etc. People will ask for anything for free. Unfortunatly I feel the same way about those people as I do Begging Bums on the street, never will I give beggers things when I work so hard for what I have because all the scammers out there have ruined it for people who might actually be in need.

I guess what really ticks me off here is that she is saying that she is going to start a business and has no money... just doesnt add up

I'm a giver by nature. So if someone has a need and I can fulfill I do. I could care less if they are ripping me off. We all have to answer for it one day anyway. thumbs_up.gif

I give you much credit.
youre a much better person than I am.
I have been burned too many times to trust people like this.
It has turned into such a dishonest world that people who really need help dont get it because of the scammers out there in the world.

I think its funny that you posted this. I read your post and as I was reading I was like "hey, I've read that same CL listing." Then I realized we're both in the Cinci area.

When I saw the ad I didn't think it was a scam, I just couldn't help. I think if someone could get a business going this way, go for it. I just don't see it working much. Hope, for her sake, that it did!

What I wondered when I read her ad was, if she's been decorating for 16 years why does she need supplies? What has she been baking in? Tin cans? When I started my business, I had plenty of supplies to start with from when I was a hobby baker.

I suppose there's nothing wrong with asking, but somehow it seems like a PP said like someone standing on the corner begging.

Duh! I didn't think of that! You are so right! maybe bed pans! I have supplies coming out the wazoo! I rent a small kitchen occasionally, but I have more stuff than i know what to do with, but I'll be darned if i'll give it away!!! I contacted her and asked for a picture of her work. If she sends me one, I may give her the stupid wilton ribbon cutter! That thing is garbage!

Thats EXACTLY what I was wondering! If you've been at this for 16 years, you should have some accumalated stuff. I know I've lost tons of things over the years, cause of moving every few years, but I still got some stuff.

Personally, I have given things to too many people on Craigslist who were in desperate need, usually for their kids, and then seen those same things posted for sale the next day. Not cake things though, I need all of mine icon_biggrin.gif except the stupid wilton ribbon cutter...and that fondant embosser cutout thing that came in the course 3 kit...I'd give those away.

That was the other thought that I had as well. I'm a hobby baker and have accumulated so much stuff it's ridiculous!

I love the ones on Craigs List that want to buy Wilton Character Cake Pans and when I reply that I have over 50 for sale at $6 each or less depending on how many they buy they respond back they are looking for pans for $1 each.

Come on on Ebay they would spend almost $6 for shipping let alone the price of the pan.

I would also like to see her pics! A LOT of CL is scam!! Someone I know was looking a car, found a con on CL, I looked up some info from one of the emails- found that the guy has been scamming for years all across the US and even the Feds had been notified! I in return posted a "warning" to this dude's add cuz my friend didn't know how to post(just buy- go figure), and CL deleted my warning.

Add my "ditto" to the above three posts. As a hobby baker, I had to buy extra set of rolling shelves for my cake stuff....and that's just 2-3 years out of a Wilton class. Imagine 16 years worth?

Funny ad. baking for 16 years and a young girl. I don't think I've ever referred to gel colors as "frosting tint" have you? Is that what she is talking about?

Walk-In fridge
Credit score of at least 650
1 re-usable piping bag

I thought that about the frosting tint as well! And frosting bags!....I call it icing color, and piping bags, unless I send my family to the cake dungeon, then it's Icing bags. S

Still hasn't sent me pics!
