Called Cake Chic, it's available on her website but on Amazon it was supposed to be released in the USA today but all I got is an "out of print -- limited availability" notice. Does anyone know when the US release will be? Barnes and Noble didn't even have it listed to be released! icon_confused.gif

Probably because it was discovered that she stole all of her pictures from that chick on the other site, and they had to recall the printing. icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

Juuuuuuust kidding! Hahahahahaha...oh I'm crying here! icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif

icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif Oh Jamie, you little stinker you!! icon_lol.gif (By the way, that other thread is no more...) icon_cry.gif Oh well. At least all the proper decorators were contacted.

So what's with Peggy's new book already?? I've been all over the internet and the overseas version is out but I don't want to get that because last time I did it had all metric measurements (and you know us Americans just can't handle that!) icon_lol.gif

I dunno, but I would love to get that book, and Planet Cake at the same time. Like Christmas in July!

Does anyone have any idea what's going on here???

i was wondering the same thing because i was searching for it on UK websites a couple days ago and all i found was "out of stock"....

jamie, i bought "planet cake" about a month or two ago. the ganaching section is what i was really interested in so i was happy with the book but the cake section itself was not what i was looking for because it really focused on carved cake and mostly kids' party cakes. there were none of the really lovely sophisticated cakes they feature on their website which is what i love to read about. but if you like carving and whimsical cakes, then this is a very good book icon_smile.gif

I must be out of the loop.

Did the author really steal someone's cake pictures?

Sadly yes, she did. But that came to a screeching halt in a big hurry! icon_confused.gif

It was a bad situation, she took pix from several well known decorator's books and scanned them into the computer and put them up on her site as her own work. But it's over and done with and all the famous decorators were notified (and very grateful I might add) and are now watching the situation themselves.

Soooo, what's up with Peggy's new book??? Inquiring minds want to know! icon_lol.gif

I think people are getting confused here. It wasn't Peggy Porschen who took the photos...some gal in Oregon took some of Peggy's pictures and put them up on her site as her own work.

Thank you for clearing that up Texas Rose! Yes, another "unknown" decorator pirated Peggy's (and others) photos from their books. I didn't even realize there was a misunderstanding but thank you for clearing that up! icon_biggrin.gif (Personally I'm just glad it's over with!)

I know, $106 -- like I DON'T THINK SO!!!! icon_confused.gif But you'll find that a lot on Amazon, if something is deemed "out of print" that automatically qualifies it for a value of 5000% above the normal retail price.icon_confused.gif

I bought Cake Chic and Planet Cake on July 6 from Amazon-UK for less than $60.00 and I live in the US. I had the books for a couple of weeks now and they are both great books.

Okay tell me -- what are the measurements for Cake Chic? Are they in metric or US standard? (I bought Romantic Cakes from Amazon-UK last year not knowing that Beautiful Cakes was the same book and the Romantic Cakes had metric measurements whereas Beautiful Cakes had the US standard measurements.) icon_confused.gif

Speak for yourself, kiddo, I bought a scale! LOL! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I heard about this book weeks ago, and wanted to go to the local B&N to peruse through it before spending my coupon. I am glad I called first, because the chickie behind the telephone line didn't know what I was talking about.

I'm kinda confused, how is it that Peggy Porschen's 2 books -Cake Chick & Simply Spectacular Cakes have the same cover?( I checked it on amazon US)

Is it something like what bobwonderbuns mentioned that Beautiful Cakes was being sold on amazon UK as Romantic Cakes.

Which is y I'd like to know if Cake Chick & Simply Spectacular Cakes are 2 different books.

TIA

Amazon.com says that they are taking pre-orders on Peggy's new cake titled: Simply Spectacular Cakes and priced at $20.94 + shipping. Says the release date is April 13, 2010.

Here's the link to it:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/0307464555/?tag=cakecentral-20

Is this the same cake as Cake Chic?

That's my thought -- that Cake Chic and Simply Spectacular Cakes are the same book much like Romantic Cakes and Beautiful Cakes were. It's just that one is for UK release and one is for release in the United States. I haven't been able to confirm this yet though. icon_cool.gif

you'd think it was another Harry Potter installment the way people are salivating over it.

different covers on opposite sides of "the pond" are a long tradition...as every HP fan knows.

see this for example from the last icon_cry.gif HP book

http://childrensbooks.about.com/od/harrypotterplus/ss/hp7covers_4.htm

-----

hmmmm...

maybe we should have "cake parties" at all the books stores the day it is released in USA.

come dressed as your favorite designer or cake.

have bake-offs, cake decorating challenges....

for messy fun a cupcake toss --- can only catch with teeth?

You know it's funny, I just checked Amazon.UK and it said "this book has not yet been released"! It has a release date of July 17, 2009! Okay, what's wrong with this picture? icon_confused.gif
