Hey there!
I'm a newbie from Australia and am really delighted to find this wonderful site. So, I am a massive fan of baking and in baking (and eating) cupcakes in particular. So much so, that I was thinking of setting up a cupcake stall at the local markets. I'm having lots of fun experienting with flavours but I've got some issues that I would love some feedback on please:
1) How to package the cupcakes (mine are quite large - muffin size) and because of icing they will need to be boxed and not just paper baged.
2) How to display them? I thought just cake display covers over plates in the cooler weather but how would I keep them fresh and to stop the frosting from melting during the hotter weather?
There are probably many other aspects which I have not thought of yet but I'd welcome any feedback you guys may have.
Love lots
Sunbuny xx
There are a couple of live threads right now called My day at the Farmer's Market. One is by JenWhitlock and the other by Maryjgirl. Anyway, they have pictures of cupcakes and all the stuff that they do. If you can't find it by searching, I'll find the links for you later.
Okay, here's the other one! Hope the pictures help you out!

Thank you so much for your replies - I found the links very helpful and the upside cup packaging is inspirational (not to mention wonderful for budget consious people). I will make sure I save them in my favourites x
PS: Makes me realise I have a fair bit more research to do because I get up to that standard!
Glad I could help! =o)
Here are Cake Central acronyms to help you get around the forums!

Oh my that is a lot of acronyms... Forget about cake making. I'll be studying that for days
LOL! YOu don't have to study! Just print the list and keep it by your computer. Before you know it, you'll know most of them! (That's what I did anyway).
hehe... i know
Quick query - how do people store cupcakes to sell them. I am having alot of trouble sourcing packaging that doesn't cost a fortune. Most options i have sought so far cost over 40c (australian) which I think is a lot. Its nearly as much as it cost to make the cake & frosting.
I don't know if you might want something like this. And I have no idea ifyou can get these in Australia. They have all different kinds that hold 1, 2, 4, 6, and a dozen. The thing is though, that you pass the money for the carriers off to the customer. Hopefully, you can find some cheap ones. I know that some people on ebay find amazing deals on things like this item.
Hope this helps.
These are about .25 cents before shipping. But I haven't been keeping up with the exchange rate or anything. So I have no idea how much that is in Aus. money.
