omg, how HORRIBLE!!!

I'm almost happy they're all Polaroids because they are fading so bad they're hard to see. I've never laughed and cried so hard in my life! icon_lol.gif

My very first one (for my sister's graduation) was two 9x13's pushed together and a mini-two-tier cake (on thin clear plastic pillar-legs ... the Wilton Mini Tier Set) on top.

I didnt' know anything about leveling, so the two 9x13's still have the domes on them! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif Sis's school colors were green and gold so this cake looks like two brown skiing hills! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif The tiers look like they were baked in a ball pan, they are SO round on top!

And I remember thinking just how dang GOOD that cake looked when I made it!

YOu just can't imagine how bad these cakes look! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

oh, Debbi, i had the same mini wilton tier cake set and thought i was something special when i made that tiered cake the first time.

My first real cake was a 9 x 13 with the flattest looking, pathetic yellow roses on it. white icing with bright yellow borders and roses. It was Jan 1973-74 so I called is a birthday cake for Elvis.......I am sure he would have really been impressed if he could have seen it.....i remember i was really impressed....just goes to show, your really do improve with practise. No I do not have a picture.

Since we are in the sharing mode, here are my first decorated (cup)cakes. I was soooo pleased with them! I still look at them now and again just to appreciate that indeed with hard work and a lot of practice you can achieve quite a lot of new skill.

I teach Wilton classes and ALWAYS stress to my students how important it is to take pictures of EVERY SINGLE CAKE they make and put it in a separate photo album. There's ABSOLUTELY nothing better than BEFORE and AFTER pictures of anything!!! I'm so glad I took a picture of my very first cake I made for my son's 1st birthday 18 years ago. I had found an aluminum foil train engine-shaped cake pan set from 19?? at a garage sale. It came complete with 4-5 blue CHEAP plastic tips and instructions that I didn't have a clue what they meant. However, I did figure out how to pipe stars. I cut out a picture of my son's face and stuck it on the cake so it looked like he was the conductor. Wow, when I look back I can DEFINITELY SEE CLEARLY how much I've improved!!!

Your cup cakes are not that bad. Not for a first anyway. It could have been so much worse!

I don't even want to try to remember what I did first. Scary!!!! Not that there has been much improvement.

However, I would like to see indys. Even bobs would be kinda fun to see. Come on! Everyone looks up to you guys, show us what you've got!

My very first! 2006. It was a complete disaster but I thought it was sooo cool. I had never taken any courses, read any books, looked at any websites, etc... I went at it blindly.

It was supposed to be Lightning McQueen-- and I won't tell you HOW exactly I decorated this cake, it's just TOO embarassing--but you can guess!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I had a Wilton mini tier-set too! I bought it in 1991-2, but I'm not sure when it actually came out. I wish I still had it to be honest.

I can't say I have a picture of my very first cake ever, since I've been baking since I was like two, but the first cake I made where I actually decorated it with more than sprinkles is this one. I'm fond of it. Just for the "Yay!" factor.

Of course, it's only a year old, so I'm not that far away from it! icon_lol.gif

Here's the first tiered cake I did...I think it was in 2001 or 2002. It was just a practice cake to see if I could do it. The picture's been stuck on my fridge for years and it's pretty faded. The cake was yellow with white scrollwork and hot pink roses (made from royal icing b/c I couldn't figure out a BC rose for the life of me!).
