oh my lord, Debi! I had NO IDEA that a porta-potty like your pic even existed!!!!! That's amazing!

(sorry for the dupl pic, folks! icon_redface.gif )

Yeah, I had no idea either. These (one for men, one for women) also had a wood deck on the front. You climbed about a 4-step stairway to enter the porta-potty on the right, then exited out the door on the right, and descended from the 2nd set of steps on that side. I felt like Dorothy when she first stepped in Oz ... but I was stepping into a bathroom! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Now that's not a typical porta potty. I think I probably could even (maybe) use that.

Actually, I've seen these porta-potties quite a few times... They put one up at our Sam's Club while they were doing construction, and one at my work while they were putting in new bathrooms and at an outdoor festival we went to on July 4th.... I have a 3-yr old, so I tend to venture into whatever is available! icon_smile.gif

Indy, I would have taken a port-o-potty-pic too if I had seen that thing! Reminds me of "Say yes to the Dress" which I like to watch. Some brides come in there and say,

" I really want a nice wedding dress but I can't spend too much because I have a lot of the budget in the wedding".. um... yeah like spending $500 a toilet seat LOL

Last night one of their high-pressure sales people said on the show, "I know that this dress you like is $1500 over your budget, but you could always cut costs elsewhere like uninviting a few people or cutting down on your cake or flowers." icon_confused.gif

Funny enough, I think the dress is about the least important aspects of a nice wedding. I think it falls in this order:
1) photography - the stuff that lasts 100 years for grandkids to look at later!
2) cake - hey! Your guests deserve a great tasting cake for clearing their days and sharing your special day with you. Everyone knows that the cake is something to anticipate!
3) flowers - ambience and fragrance is everything
4) dress - anything white that fits properly should work icon_wink.gif

Here's the order according to my daughter.

1. food and drink (because this is what everyone gets to share and enjoy, and it makes the occasion festive)
2. dress
3. cake (because the one I'm making for her is spectacular and yummy)
4. all the rest

There's not near future for me on this one, but I would have to say the following for me -

1. Church ceremony
2. Dress - my mom will be making this
3. Food, drink & cake
4. Everything else

I think you have got it in my opinion. What is a wedding day without the ceremony??? The dress that mom makes is beyond compare (especially if she is good at sewing, but memories of her doing the dress are quite priceless to the thought of off the rack), Food, drink, and cake is where I have to reverse things a bit. Cake, food, and then drink. Borrowing someones words here, but who has had wedding chicken?? I think cakers have a better understanding of cake budgets than the muggles do!

It's what my uncle would refer to as "people with more money than sense".

Seriously, by the time they paid for delivery for tent, tables, chairs, linens (which all came from Indpls .... a 150 mile round trip .. TWICE when you factor they had to come back and pick everything up), an outdoor grill for the caterer, extra electricty they had to run to the tent for the caterer's carving station, $3000 for toilets, etc. etc. etc. .... they could have booked it in the nicest country club, that was AIR CONDITIONED!, for way less money.

But it's not my money, so they can do whatever they want with it! thumbs_up.gif

Hey now... I had those port-a-potties at my wedding. icon_wink.gif They were the best! They even had music playing inside.

But yes... pricey. My MIL handled my wedding and it was all her. They had just had their wood floors installed and didn't want people tracking through the house so this was important to them. icon_smile.gif

I *SO* understand how they'd feel with that many people on brand new floors, but I have to say that it sounds funny that someone "....just installed new floors and we don't want anyone to walk on them." icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

If she wasn't specific about where you would be delivering, you could send her a post-delivery invoice (knowing of course they probably wouldn't pay) for it being so far from access...and hazardous! I would love to hear how everthing turned out. You deserve an award!

Wow! Congratulations for making it to the tent. If you've got photos of the set up cake and you specified when you would be delivering it, I think if a raccoon gets to it that is none of your concern. (Except for perhaps being super annoyed your lovely cake was ruined).

I can't believe telling a bride to cut flowers and cake for her dress. It's just so selfish. There are weddings these days where the guests get no food, no liquor and you sit on folding chairs yet the bride paid for an 8,000$ dress, and video montages to be displayed on huge LCD screens of "the journey of our love" or whatever. People are really ignoring their guests. After all, these people are realy only here to adore and worship you icon_rolleyes.gif

Everyone has their priorities and I understand cutting things for budget, but ignoring your guests is not a way to go. If your having a ceremony out in the woods, get the port a potty. Can you imagine the poor guests with kids? ouch.

I agree with this - invoice them for the unconventional delivery. They're probably expecting it if the caterer billed additionally for the delivery as well. Just keep in mind they probably won't pay, but it will help make it worth it if they actually do. Hey, you got lucky with having your DH there and having the cake not stacked .... you could get lucky if they pay! icon_wink.gif

i too would love to know the outcome of this!! thanks debi for posting those pics. i wondered how much $ those 3 seater port-a-potties were. i worked for a catering company for a bit and we did a huge wedding with the reception at their family's historical home and of course they didn't want 300-350 people trapsing in and out of their house/bathrooms.

A happy ending! The bride called me today, she loved the cake and it came through in flying colors! I did get a few details---apparently I was the only non-family vendor, so everyone was at the church! They hired teenagers to drive 3 family owned jeeps up and down the hills to ferry the guests around. They carried hot pans of food wrapped in towels on their laps to keep them level.

The jeeps were decorated, and she even hap a picture taken of her husband removing the garter while sitting on a jeeps' hood.

I didn't mention the marijuana odor...neither did she!

I am very relieved!
